Drumming Mad 2 Workshop and Andante Masterclass ~ 2007 with World Solo Snare Drumming Champion Steven McWhirter!
Drumming Mad 2, 2007 workshop and Andante masterclass details are finalised. This is a 2-day course based in the mid-West town of Xanten with World Solo Snare Drumming Champion, Steven McWhirter. The course theme is ‘Dance Time'.
Where and when:
Date: Saturday and Sunday April 21 and 22, 2007
Time: Start Saturday Morning at 9:00 concluding Sunday at 16:00.
Location: Jugendherberge "Xanten"
Investment: Workshops is €90 Adult and €70 Youth (Andante Masterclass with World Champion: add €25) all prices include 19% Tax. (price increase is due to increased tax, increased costs and question time sessions with the world champion)
Course booking Deadlines: Andante Masterclass Friday March 2, all other Workshops Friday March 30. However please book in early as classes may fill quickly.

The aim of the course is to provide all drummers with a better understanding of pipe band ensemble playing. You will have the opportunity to learn new ways in technique to help with your musical flow. This workshop theme is ‘Dance Time’ which will cover aspects of playing Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs and Hornpipes. Improved individual technique will also help with better corps integration and accurate playing with the pipes. We will also be working on various march time signatures.
At the end of the course you will:
· Have developed your drum corps playing
· Have learnt a special set of rudiment phrases that help in execution for Dance Time playing
· Have a better understanding of what ensemble playing is all about
Course Timing Plan:
Arrival between 8:30 and 8:45 Saturday Morning. Course kick off is at 9:00 working through until 18:00. There will of course be meals and breaks (you can’t drum on an empty stomach!)
Each day there will be a drumming presentation by World Champion Steven McWhirter and an open question time where you can ask Steven your favourite drumming questions!
In the evening there will be a "Ceilidh" open to all who wish to come organised by the local band German Lowland Pipes and Drums. It promises to be a great event. Details to follow soon.
Sunday starting at 9am and finishing at 16:00 (to allow for long distance travellers).

Step 1 Workshop/Masterclass and Accomodation (before Feb21) Payment: Workshops investment is €90 for Adults and €70 under 18yo (incl 19% Tax) (The price has increased since the last workshop due to increased tax and increased costs. Accomodation and meals payment: Friday and Saturday night Full Board = €54 Saturday night only is Full Board (Bed plus Sat Hot Lunch & Tea plus Sunday Breakfast & Warm Lunch)= €33.20 Under 18 is 3 euro less per night. Bed Linen is included in the price. Deadline for accomodation booking and payment is Friday March 2nd. If you are not staying at the hostel, you can still eat at the hostel canteen. A surcharge for meals is offered by the hostel of €4.90 per meal payable at the time of the course. Accomodation is in shared rooms of 4 beds with showers in each room. All rooms are lovely modern rooms with excellent atmosphere. Deadline for accomodation is Friday March 2nd. After the February 21 deadline, please contact the Jugendherberge Xanten direct as they may still have beds available. But be sure to mention that you are with the Drumming Mad workshop group.
