Drumming Mad! in association with Kilts and More present Drumming Mad Workshop 2 ~ 2006

Drumming Mad 2, 2006 workshop details are finalised.  This is a 2-day course based in the Bodensee Region City of Ravensburg.  The course theme is ‘Simple Time Marches.’

 Where and when: - 

Date: Saturday/Sunday April 29^th and 30^th, 2006

Time: Start Saturday Morning at 10am concluding Sunday at 16:00.

Location: @ Jugendherberge Veitsburg, Ravensburg

Investment: Course is €80 per adult and €60 under 18yo (incl 16.5% Tax)

Deadline for Course booking: Monday 3rd April, 2006

Deadline for Youth Hostel Accomodation: 14th March, 2006 (Beds might even still be available after this date)

There will be 2 Classes for:-

·       Experienced Snare: Drummers with at least 6 months playing experience.  (As Breuberg Side Drum 2 level)

Instructor: Dean Hall (Frankfurt and District Pipe Band)

 ·       Experienced Bass & Tenor: Drummers with at least 6 months playing experience (Drum Corps Players on Drums)

Instructor: Maik Reckziegel (L/Tenor Frankfurt and District Pipe Band)

The aim of the course is to provide all drummers with a better understanding of pipe band ensemble playing.  You will have the opportunity to learn new ways in technique to help with your musical flow.  This workshop theme is ‘Simple Time Marches’ including the 2/4, 3/4, 4,4 and 5/4 Marches.  The idea of a workshop theme is to focus on a particular rhythm to gain a more full understanding on a specific area of drumming expression.  However we will be working on other time signatures too.

At the end of the course you will: -

·       Have developed your drum corps playing 

·       Be able to play a March 

·       Have learnt a special set of rudiment phrases that help in execution for March playing 

·       Have worked on and developed March playing through new March phrases

·       Have a better understanding of drum score writing 

·       Have a better understanding of ensemble playing

Course Timing Plan: - 

Course kick off is at 9am Saturday Morning and working right through until 6.  There will of course be meals and breaks (you can’t drum on an empty stomach!) and in the evening the plan is to have an evening meal together in a pub and we will try to organize a TV/DVD for some hot drumming viewing!! Sunday starting at 9am and finishing at 3 (to allow for long distance travellers).

Saturday Dinner together at the Gasthof Ochsen RV

Sunday Breakfast at Juhe or Gasthof Ochsen RV

Any special dietary requirements should be made known by email at the time of registration.  Vegetarian/ Vegan etc

Evening Program: -

Saturday night evening program in the “gasthof Ochsen”of dinner and videos and perhaps playing! Pipers and guests welcome!! Later up to the City and the Pubs
