Now play these lines slowly at first starting on line 1 playing all the lines to the end of line 5 and come back to the start of line 1 to play again. Repeat this process until you have good steady flow with even sounding taps.
What is Tempo? The speed of music is called 'Tempo' in musical terms. In this piece it is best to begin line 1 at 60 beats per minute (or 1 second between each note). Since line 2 is doubled up in time, there will be 2 beats ber second and line 3 will have 4 beats ber second - see how it build up?

So again begin by playing line 1 until constant weight is achieved at 1 second tempo. Then continue onto line 2 at the same tempo, double up your strokes playing 2 taps per beat. Once you have achieved the regular intervals with constant weight on each tap, play the 2 lines as one exercise by repeating from the end of bar 4 back to the start of bar 1. Continue this at the same tempo of 1 second tempo (or 60 bpm) until you are comfortable with the sound and weight of each stroke.
